Salem Community College (SCC) in Carneys Point, N.J. offers associate degrees (A.A., A.F.A., A.S. and A.A.S.) and certificates in over 30 liberal arts, business, practical nursing and technology programs of study.
SCC’s faculty and staff are committed to providing students with opportunities to pursue academic, professional and personal excellence. Small classes and personal attention, along with state-of-the-art computing labs, are important parts of SCC’s commitment to student success.
In fall 2008, SCC introduces new programs of study in digital media (degree), energy utility technology (degree), emergency services (certificate), food process technology (degree), glass industrial design (degree and certificate) and medical coding (certificate).
Salem Community College offers the only Scientific Glass Technology associate degree program in the United States. Students enrolled in Glass Art are in the nation’s only associate degree program using the flameworking process.
Starting in fall 2008, the College’s glass courses will be taught in the new Samuel H. Jones Jr. Glass Education Center in Alloway. The 14,000-square-foot facility will stand out as one of the few U.S. facilities of its kind that uses methane gas to fire equipment to create glass art and scientific glass apparatus. The large space will enable SCC to offer a new Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) degree program in Glass Industrial Design and expand the AFA option in Glass Art. SCC will now offer glassblowing and hot glass casting classes. Students also can select courses in kiln-forming, kiln-casting and pate de verre, cold glass assemblage and surface treatment, and flameworking, in addition to drawing and two- and three-dimensional design. |
